Sijo Adriano Emperado is the man credited with founding Kajukenbo. Sijo Emperado is a master of Chinese Kenpo, Pakua, Filipino Ecrima and Western Boxing. After studying with masters of Chinese Kung Fu, Sijo Emperado developed his own personal style and named it "Tum Pai" or "central way". In the 1970's Siging Jon Loren received permission from Sijo Emperado to expand Tum Pai into a complete martial art style of the Kajukenbo system. With the help of his five advanced students, including SIFU JERRY WELDON, Sifu Loren developed Kajukenbo Tum Pai, one of four recognized branches of Kajukenbo. Tum Pai is the internal branch of Kajukenbo that builds off a strong foundation of Tai Chi. Movements are fluid and cirucular with most the practitioners power comes from the advanced tendon structure studied by Sigung Loren and his black sashes.
